"22-24 He continued this subject with his disciples. “Don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more. 25-28 “Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? 29-32 “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself."
Today, I am encouraged. I am encouraged because I know that no matter how dark the hour may be, God is always in control and the Son will always rise. I’m just thankful that we serve the risen Savior who has overcome the world. Because Jesus conquered death, there is nothing left to fear. The only thing left to do is trust and that’s what I would like us to focus on today. Trusting God is one of the major ways to exercise our faith. If you think about it, no relationship can function properly without trust; and we are called to be in relationship with God. It’s difficult enough to trust other humans, but when it comes to God we know it can be even more difficult because we can’t see God. Trust with God is more about knowing who God is and how God operates, it’s about knowing God’s character. The more you get to know God, the more you become accustomed to how God works and you can begin to trust God’s plan for your life. But it becomes increasingly difficult to let go of control and trust God when we don’t really know who God is and just what God is capable of. A simple way to remind ourselves of whom God is is by looking back over our lives and seeing all the situations God has brought us through and all the ways in which God has revealed himself to us. A simple way to get to know God and develop greater trust is by frequently reading God’s Word. God reveals Himself to us through our life experiences and the Bible. Through the reading and living of God’s Holy Word we can truly come to fully let go and trust God. Trusting isn’t always easy but it is certainly necessary to have a relationship with God. Friends, today we are praying for trust and that God use trust in our lives to take us to greater depths in our faith and greater heights in the world. Trust God.
God, You are the great “I Am.” You revealed Yourself to Moses under that name but we know that You also were talking to us. Lord it is no mistake that You did not define yourself and we are thankful that you are all things to all people at all times. You are eternal and Your love never fails. Help us today Lord to get to know You better and trust You more. We know that Your Word will never turn back void so Lord until we understand in full, help us to have trust in You. Allow us God to walk boldly in faith as we hold Your hand and trust that You are in control.
