It is of Greek origin, and the meaning of Eleanor is "sun ray, shining light".
“I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). This most familiar scripture serves as the life motto for Eleanor. God allowed her life to begin in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church ministry at birth. Loving parents thought it wisdom to raise Eleanor and her siblings in a nurturing home and in the atmosphere of church ministry. The seed of ministry work began early in life but began to blossom in March 1983 as she was hired by Pastor Harvey Clemons Jr. and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church as a part-time Secretary. After 31 years, she remains steadfast in her ministry work at Pleasant Hill in the position of Chief of Staff and her commitment to God and ministry goes far beyond her staff responsibilities.
Eleanor is a graduate of Phillis Wheatley High School (the mighty Wildcats) and received formal training at Texas Southern University. She is an accomplished writer, motivational speaker, event planner and songstress (Pleasant Hill Ensemble and Mass Choir). In 2006, her love for the music ministry led to her participation in the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NCGCC) where she currently serves in the Houston Chapter and nationally as Corresponding Secretary for the Alumni Chorale She most recently has joined the NCGCC Convention Planning Team. Evidence of her gifts and talents in ministry are usually found in work occurring behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and organized worship experience and cohesiveness among programs and projects of Pleasant Hill Ministries and other affiliations. Further evidence can be found in her love for God’s people. She takes much pride in giving of herself to serve others.
She is the mother of two lovely daughters, Adrielle, and Erin, son-in-laws, Rashad and Mike and “G-Mama” to her grandchidlren, Amayah and Rashad Jr (RJ) and Ella.
